“LET IT SNOW” ROUND HOLIDAY BASKET
2-part WORKSHOP

This is the 1st of 3 Holiday Craft Workshops celebrating CHRIST­MAS IN JULY. We chose this delightful HOLIDAY BASKET because it is easy and cute and can be used for a lot of things like Christmas Cards, candy, Christmas Cookies, carmel corn/popcorn, Christmas morning muffins and lots more. It's a 7" round Basket with alternating rows of navy and nat­ural reed that make up the spokes. Around the middle is a wide row accented on both sides with reed colors YOU choose. To complete the Basket, there's an adorable 3 1/2" high Snowman "pick" proclaiming the phrase "Let It Snow." It sits atop the finished rim and overlooks your goodies nestled in the basket below. Here we are with another CHRISTMAS IN JULY craft workshop. Have you ever thought of making your own gift wrap? This can be one of the most creative and fun crafts you can learn. What better way to find out than to make Christmas wrap! Tonight Jane will introduce you to several techniques. You will try your hand at some of them with finished pieces to take home. Jane will demonstrate some others. Instructions included so you can make them all. Learn how to turn ordinary tissue paper into beautiful wrapping paper. Learn the Seamless Japanese Wrap, Brown Paper Bag "Baskets" (that look so pretty you won't believe what they are made of), Christmas "Crackers" and much more - all in beautiful Christmas and Holiday patterns and designs. This is the last Workshop in our CHRISTMAS IN JULY Crafts Series and we have saved the most beautiful for last. Who can resist the sweet expression of a Holiday Angel Ornament as it gently "flies" on the branch of your Christmas tree?! You can create your own set of 3 Holiday Angel Ornaments tonight. Jane has a wide variety of materials to use to create your angels. They range in size from about 3" - 6". See some exam­ples on the SAMPLE WALL at the Center. You will be amazed at how some elegant ribbons, trims, glitter and glue can turn into lovely additions to your Holiday celebrations for years to come. Georgia is back with another crochet workshop. You will learn chain, slip stitch, single, double, half-double and triple crochet, increasing and decreasing. Learn to make a Granny Square that can be a pot holder or the beginning of a scarf or afghan. Time permitting, see a demonstration of the afghan stitch which uses a different hook to look like knitting. ALL MATERIALS – yarn, instructions, starter crochet hook included in the cost of the Workshop. See examples of crochet items on the SAMPLE WALL at the Center. Coffee/Herbal Teas/Cookies served..

LET'S GO GREEN!
"SEED TAPE" HERB CONTAINER GARDEN WORKSHOP

Everybody's doing it... going "Green" that is. We can all do little things to help our environment. Tonight Jane shows us  how to do the "green thing" by planting our own indoor container herb garden using biodegradable seed tapes that YOU will make. Please bring a trowel and garden gloves...  we'll provide everything else you need. You'll have 3 different kinds of herb seeds to plant in your own container which you'll decorate. A sunny window, water, and "Green Love" should produce herbs to use in your favorite recipes this Autumn and Winter. Jane will talk about the different herbs and what you can do with them. Handouts, coffee, teas, cookies and Raffle Prizes provided. Join us as we Go Green!

LIDDED PATRIOTIC BASKET 2-part WORKSHOP

We did a Christmas Basket in July so now we are doing a Patriotic 4th of July Basket in September. Why? Why not! Well actually, we are doing this basket called "Little Glory" because this is the 1ST LIDDED BASKET offered at the Center. It's the perfect little basket (5" diameter and 4" high) to learn the technique of twining a lip inside the basket to support a lid. This basket starts with a wood base and has a painted wood lid. It is woven in red, natural and blue reed (of course). See this basket on the SAMPLE WALL at the Cen­ter. REMEMBER: Since time is needed to order the materials and have the lids painted, the Registration Deadline will not be extended. Instructions, coffee, teas and cookies provided.

HALLOWEEN LUMINARIES WORKSHOP
October 9

The ghosts and goblins of Halloween are on their way for another round of Trick or Treat. Welcome them at your front door, along your walkway or in your yard with these adorable luminaries. LUMINARIES are tin cans (they can be any size from large juice cans to paint cans) that have a design "pun­ched" into them with an awl or nail then painted and lit from the inside with a votive candle. You will create 2 Halloween Luminaries - one orange and one black - with a Halloween themed design. Please bring a hand towel and heavy hammer and an awl. All other materials provided. You have enough time before Halloween to make MORE at home if you want to create a really SPOOKY atmosphere. See a Halloween Luminary on the SAMPLE WALL at the Center. Coffee/Herbal Teas/Cookies/Raffle Prizes provided along with Handouts.

TABLE TOP SLEIGH BASKET 2-part WORKSHOP

In the Holiday classic song Jingle Bells, we sing "Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh!" Tonight the fun comes in weaving a wonderful Sleigh basket for your Holi­day Table. It starts with a 6" X 12" wood base with runners. And, you'll learn several NEW! techniques not offered before in a BVCC basket workshop. This basket design has you twining both left and right, weaving flat reed with a turn around and weaving a braided rim. The basket is woven in red and green round reed as well as natural color flat reed. There is a Sleigh Basket on the SAMPLE WALL at the Center. Instructions, Herbal Teas, Coffee and Cookies provided.
