    Around the World in 80 days? No sir. We are going to circumvent the globe in one night with WINE. That’s right…we are going around the World in 10 Wines. From the top wine producing regions of the Old World – France, Italy and Germany to Old World Spain and Portugal producing wines in the New World style to the real New World, fruit forward style wines produced in South Africa, South America, Australia and New Zealand then around the globe and back in the good old USA, we travel by WINE, not airplane. You will taste about 10 wines from around the world that you can get right here in Milwaukee. After all, what good is it to find a wine you like but you can’t buy? HANDOUTS include lots of wines from around the world like the ones you will taste.     Omar Khayyam was right. There’s nothing like food and wine out-of-doors under the open sky. Add your own “Thou” and the day is complete. Whether it’s a picnic in the park or outside a stadium next to your car, wines that are chosen to go with your cold and hot foods make everything taste better. Tonight Tom has about 10 wines that go perfect with your picnic and tailgate fare like roasted chicken, hots and brats, shrimp, potato salad, fruit, cheeses and even sweets like brownies. (Hint: Sparkling wines and Champagnes go great with just about anything sweet including chocolate.) HANDOUTS have comparable wines, all available in southeastern Wisconsin. After all, what good is it to hear about a wine that you can’t go out and buy tomorrow?     Oktoberfest is the time for picking grapes in Germany, Austria and Alsace so why not celebrate WINE as well as beer. Tonight Tom delves into the reds and whites of this region that has been producing wine since the Roman Empire. You will taste about 10 wines and learn about their grapes like RIESLINGS, SPATBURGUNDER (pinot noir), MOSEL, GRUNER VELTLINER, SILVANER, TROLLING­ER, GEWURTZTRAMINER, SPAT­LESE and MUELLER-THURGAU. Learn how to read a German Wine Label and find out about the wine producing regions of Germany, Alsace and Austria. HANDOUTS include lots of information.       Bet you never spent Halloween at a Wine Tasting. Welcome! We are going to chase away the “Ghosts and Goblins” of mediocre wines that are overpriced and taste BLAH. Tonight Tom has some really “SCARY GOOD” wines – delicious and the top of the line for their varietal at a “SPOOKY LOW” price. Every day but Halloween these wines are called BEST BUYS – rated 90 or better on the Wine Scale and cost under $20.00. There are reds and whites from Old World Wine producing countries like France, Italy and Germany and New World countries like Australia, Spain and the USA. There are oak-barrel and stainless steel aged wines. There are wines with notes of fruit, spice and floral…wines from big corporate wineries and small family-owned wineries. You will taste about 10 wines like PINOT NOIR, CHARDONNAY, MERLOT, CABERNET SAUVIGNON, TORRENTOS, MALBEC, SAUVIGNON BLANC or SHIRAZ. One thing we know for sure, you won’t be scared of the price.        It’s the time of year (ending with New Year’s Eve) when Champagne and Sparkling Wines are the #1 choice for wine drinkers and non-wine drinkers alike. For 5 years we wanted to do this program but couldn’t swing it because of the costs. After finding an anonymous sponsor, we can now do a program on comparing CHAMPAGNES and SPARKLING WINES. You will taste about 10 wines  at least 3 (hopefully 5) CHAMPAGNES and the rest SPARKLING WINES like CAVA (Spain), SEKT (Germany), ASTI SPUMANTE (Italy), PROSECO (Italy) and a SPARKLING WINE from the United States, probably California or Oregon. Since only real Champagnes can be made in France, you will have a great opportunity to compare Champagne to a wine made in the Methode Champenoise. HANDOUTS tell you more about these delicious wines. Shamanism looks back at the past to give us strength in the present and a path for the future. Tonight is the 2nd time we have presented the Trance Dancing Journey. It is a contemporary use of dance in the Shamanic experience. The Trance Dance utilizes aspects of spiritual awareness with music and movement. It focuses on the internal journey to achieve a deeper level of understanding. Everyone age 18 and up welcome. No previous Shamanism experience needed. First-timers and “veteran” attendees (either here at the Center or at other Shamanism workshops) are welcome. It will be an exciting evening with new and returning people experiencing a new form of personal journey.      You don’t have to deny yourself delicious Holiday treats to stay Healthy. With a little knowledge and some smart choices, you can eat cookies, candy and snacks this Holiday Season “Guilt Free”. Tonight Lisa will make healthy, guilt free desserts and party snacks including baked treats and “raw” treats (gluten free; dairy free). And, as she prepares the recipes, she will talk about the health benefits of each ingredient.  HANDOUTS include the recipes she will prepare and more. Lisa prepares for you to taste: CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER BALLS; SWEET POTATO COOKIES; POMEGRANATE CHOCOLATES; “RAW” CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES; HOLIDAY SNACK MIX and, if time permits, RAW ALMOND BUTTER CUT-OUTS and HOLIDAY ENERGY BARS.
