You asked for it so here it is. Tonight Tom will discuss Summer wines and food pairings. When you leave, you will have a working knowledge of Summer's best dishes - from salads to barbeque to grilled veggies to seasonal fresh fruit dishes like strawberry shortcake - and the wines that not only taste good with them but actually enhance their flavors. We'll give you a working list of Wines that "travel well" from the beach to the park, from a fireworks picnic to a tailgate party or your own patio. A cold glass of beer is a Summer treat. But a glass of Syrah with grilled shrimp is Heaven. You will taste about 10 wines. HANDOUTS will provide a reference for pairing wines with all your favorite Summer foods. Big changes are happening in the Australian wine industry. A changing global market, increase in energy costs and a very bad drought have hit their wine industry hard. In May, the Wine Export Report shows a decline in volume of Australian wine exports. Still the 4th largest wine region producer, Australia and New Zealand shows a decline in volume to the US while the average price increased. All this makes it harder for the average American wine buyer. Tonight Tom covers the new Australian and New Zealand wine scene. You will taste about 10 wines such as Barossa Valley SHIRAZ and CABERNETS; light SEMILLONS; MERLOTS and CHARDONNAYS. BEAUJOLAIS: FRANCE'S "PARTY" WINE WORKSHOP & WINE-TASTING

On November 20th (the 3rd Thursday in November) the first corks will pop and the 2008 Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration begins. Tonight, you will learn all about the French BEAUJOLAIS wines. This French wine producing region is located by the Rhone and Loire Valleys. While technically considered pa­rt of Burgundy wine region, the climate is closer to the Rhone Valley and unique enough to have its own tastes. The GAMAY grape's been grown in the region since 1350. French wine great Georges Duboeuf is the man behind the Beaujolais wine industry. You will taste around 10 French wines - Beauj­olais wines and comparable wines from the Loire and Rhone Valleys. You can "taste the difference" from the terroir (soil), climate and process (oak or stainless steel).
