Wisconsin has an Amish Community west of Green Bay near Bonduel and Shawano. Today, we will learn first-hand about the history and customs of the Amish. Because the Amish people do not have electricity, their day starts early and ends early. So we have to do the same. Our day begins very early with 6:30am FREE PARKING and BREAKFAST BUFFET at the Center. At 7am our COACH BUS (Restroom on board) leaves for THE WOOD SHED in Bonduel. At 9:30am we arrive and pick up our TOUR GUIDE for our 2 1/2-Hr. TOUR of AMISH COUNTRY. We'll enjoy the Wisconsin countryside while learning about the Amish who live there. Along the way, our Tour Guide will point out Amish Homes, Farms and an Amish School. Stops include BULK FOOD MARKETS like LARK COUNTRY STORE (Pickled Veggies; Jams & Jellies; Bulk Spices/Flour/ Sugar; Nuts; Dried Fruit; Candies) and an AMISH BAKERY like MARYANN'S BAKED GOODS. You can look around and maybe visit with Amish families who live there (respecting their Wishes). You can take pictures or videos of the countryside but not of the people. At 12pm noon we will stop at an Amish Farm owned by an Amish Family. There is an enclosed add-on porch to the family home where we will have DINNER homemade by the family using their recipes and local foods such as Chicken, Mashed Potatoes/Gravy; Stuffing; Noodles; Salad; Vegetables; Breads; Coffee & Milk and for dessert Pie and Cookies. Today Cowboys and Cowgirls, you'll be a kid again visiting a candy factory, The Old West and an old-fashioned ice cream shop complete with a soda fountain. The day begins w/FREE PARKING and 7:45am BREAKFAST BUFFET at the Center. At 8:15am our COACH BUS leaves for JELLY BELLY CENTER in Pleas­ant Prairie. Hop on the Jelly Belly Express for a TOUR on how the candies are made; SAMPLE new and favorite flavors and SHOP for your own candy treats. At the end of a winding gravel drive, you can see bright fields that seem to go on forever. A large stable rests at the end of the road. And behind the stable, you can view entertainment unique to the World - the Lipizzan Stallions at Tempel Farms. That's our destination today. The day begins w/FREE PARKING and 8am BREAKFAST BUFFET at the Center. At 8:30am our air-conditioned COACH BUS leaves. At 9:30am we arrive at TEMPEL FARMS in Wadsworth, Illinois. You'll have a chance to look around before you enter the performance area. (NOTE: The seating is bleachers without a back. For those who cannot physically handle this, there is a separate area under the trees with chairs with backs.) At 10:30am the 90-minute PERFORMANCE begins. Starting in the 16th century, riding masters in Europe created academies where they taught sophis­ticated training methods elevating riding to an art form. Today, Tempel Farms is the world's largest privately owned herd of Lipizzan horses. You'll see all the steps and moves that these outstanding horses perform known as Dressage. Special features include the PAS DE TROIS where 3 horses perform the same moves in unison next to each other. See the AIRS ABOVE THE GROUND where the stallion is completely in the air. And the COURBETTE has the horse run and jump landing on his hind legs. The CAPRIOLE has the horse kick out in the middle of a leap. And the QUADRILLE is the Ballet of the White Stallions. After the show, you can walk the stables to see the horses, including those little baby ponies that will steal your heart At 12:30pm we say good-by to the Lipizzans and head for LONG GROVE VILLAGE. This quaint, unique European-like setting of shops & restaurants is the perfect place for LUNCH and SHOP­PING "On-Your-Own." You'll receive complete information on all of it in the ADVANCE PLANNING PACKET. After a MEET'N GREET, head for SEASONS OF LONG GROVE, ENZO & LUCIA'S RISTOR­ANTE & CAFE, LONG GROVE CAFE on the Mill Pond, PASTISSERIE ORLEANS, VICTORIA'S MEXICAN GRILLE, THE VILLAGE TAVERN or TIMMY'S SANDWICHES & ICE CREAM. The day begins with an early start at 6:30am w/FREE PARKING and BREAKFAST BUFFET at the Center. At 7am our air-conditioned COACH BUS (restroom on board) leaves. We see Nature's Wonders along the SCENIC SHORTCUT skirting Lake Michigan. At 10:30am we arrive at LAUTENBACH'S ORCHARD COUNTY WINERY & MARKET in Fish Creek. You'll have time to SHOP, take a WAGON RIDE and sample WINES in a SOUVENIR GLASS you take home. At 11:45am we head for Sister Bay for SHOPPING & LUNCH "On-Your-Own." Try Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant & Butik or Sister Bay Swedish Cafe, Moretti's Restaurant & Pizzaria or Sister Bay Bowl (a supper club-like restaurant w/six lanes!). At 2pm we head for BJORKLUNDEN CHAPEL located on the rolling cliffs in Bailey's Harbor. Kick up your heels with excitement! We're going to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes. The day begins with FREE PARKING and 7:30am BREAKFAST BUFFET.
